Computer Systems Frequently Asked Questions
Are the computers you sale only for Dialogic cards?
No they can be used with all types of hardware and software. We initially started selling computers because our Dialogic card customers often needed hard to find systems such as those with ISA slots, but at this point probably more than half of our Computer sales are to customers that aren’t using them with Dialogic cards.
Our ISA slot systems have the most varied types of users. One of the more common uses for these systems has turned out to be University Engineering Departments to support legacy hardware.
How long once the order is placed does it take for you to ship our system?
We usually ship 2 to 3 business days after the order is placed. We normally have the parts in stock ready to custom build each system as we receive orders. If we are waiting on part and it is going to be delayed we will let you know. If you are in a situation where you need the system rushed call us and we’ll do our best to expedite the order.
Do you ship your computer systems outside the USA?
Yes, we ship worldwide. We have customers using our computers in Canada, Mexico, Honduras, Columbia, Sweden, Singapore, Chile, Australia and the UK. If you are outside the USA and are interested in purchasing one of our systems, contact us directly for shipping charges.
I didn't realize that ISA slot and systems with 5 or 6 PCI slots were still available, are these new systems?
Yes, our systems are new. You won’t find systems with ISA slots and more than 2 or 3 PCI slots from mainstream computer companies such as Dell and HP, or from the big motherboard makers such as Intel, Supermicro and Asus. The motherboards that we use in our ISA and 6 PCI slot systems are Industrial class motherboards, these type of motherboard makers are the only ones that still make motherboards with these legacy slots.
Will your systems hold full length cards?
Yes, all the systems we sell will hold full size (4.5″ x 13″) cards.
What is the difference between an ISA, PCI and PCIe (PCI express) slot types?
ISA slots are the oldest of these 3 slots types. If you purchased a computer from one of the major PC manufacturers after 1999, it probably doesn’t have ISA slots. Custom built computers are still available today with ISA slots, we sell one with 3 ISA slots, for more information, click here. PCI is newer than ISA slots, and are still available on computers from the major PC makers, though they are becoming less numerous. PCI cards will only work in PCI slots and ISA cards only work in ISA slots. Click here for a picture showing the difference between ISA and PCI slots.
PCIe or PCI Express (not to be confused with PCI-X) is the latest PC bus architecture. PCIe is the replacement for both PCI and AGP slots. PCIe is not backwards compatible, PCI cards will not work in the PCIe slots and PCIe cards will not work in PCI slots. Click here for a picture showing the different PCI-e slot types.
Are there any known compatibility issues with ISA devices and your ISA motherboard systems?
Not that we know of. We have customers using all different types of ISA devices with these motherboards and as far as we know there haven’t been any compatibility issues.
Are other options available other that what is listed on the product page?
Yes, we can further customize the system beyond what is listed as options on each computer product page. Contact us for more details.
Do you build other systems other than what is listed on your product page?
We do build more customized systems such as backplane systems that aren’t listed on our site. Contact us with your needs and if we can build it we will provide you with pricing.
